6439 The First National Bank of TOMBSTONE

1902.0925 - Chartered: Capital of $25,000
1921.0825 - Placed in receivership : Capital of $25,000
                     Reason : Incompetent Management
1921.1110 - Restored to solvency
1926.0521 - Placed in voluntary liquidation : Capital of $25,000
Absorbed by the Cochise County State Bank, Tombstone

Although notes from this storied-location are highly prized (and highly priced) The bank was in fact chartered twenty years after the glory days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. In fact, Tombstone was on the decline, and would eventually lose its status as county seat not long after this bank liquidated.

  1. The scanned image at the very top (1902 blue seal, with the signatures), could you tell me more about it? Is it for sale, and if so, how much?

    1. I really have no more information on that note. While I frequently see statehood notes (at hefty prices), I have not seen the above (or any other) territorials,
